The story of The Reproductive Dietitian

Hi, my name is Kaitlin, and I am the founder and business owner of The Reproductive Dietitian and KM Dietetics. I am so excited to be starting this journey to help empower women during a challenging time of their life.

I am an Accredited Practicing Dietitian and graduated from Flinders University in 2018. For the last 5 years I have worked for the government in hospitals, aged care and community settings. However, I have always had an interest in fertility and women’s health which stemmed from my honours project at university, where I looked at the nutrition advice being given to women with gestational diabetes. It was during this time that I discovered the concept of epigenetics and how altering nutrition pre-conception and during pregnancy can affect the health outcomes of the baby as it grows throughout its life. I have always had an interest in preventative health, rather than treatment, so this was right down my alley. Once I started down the rabbit hole and learnt more about how nutrition can have an impact on improving the quality of life of women suffering from conditions such as endometriosis and PCOS, as well as improving outcomes in IVF where women are paying a high price in money as well as mental and physical health, I was hooked!

Last year I moved back to the family farm with my husband, two border collies and our pet python (yes I know!), as my husband changed careers from a physio to a farmer. I got a job in government but due to our location, the travel was killing me. It was on the brink of burnout that I finally got the courage to give my fertility business a good crack.

I am learning a lot about running a business as I go along, but being able to offer accessible services to women who are experiencing fertility challenges, gives me a great sense of pride. I’m glad you are able to join me on the ride!
